Di was out at the Urban Race by Athena Half HYROX race on Saturday 26th.
Event: Half Hyrox Urban Race, Battersea
Result: 1:05:05
Preparation for this event involved learning eight new exercises, including the ski erg, sled push/pull, broad jumps, rowing, farmers carry, and wall balls. The training was intensive, with a focus on adapting to these new movements, and I am grateful to Scott for helping me structure the sessions and get ready for the race.
I was nervous on race day with so many new things to consider and totally out of my comfort zone. But sometimes this is what you need to do!
Race day conditions were challenging, with temperatures reaching 31°C. The event was well-run, and the atmosphere was focused and high-energy. Scott’s support was essential throughout the day, particularly with managing hydration and logistics during the heat.
Finishing with a time of 1:05:05 was a successful outcome for my first outing in this format. I am now looking at refining my technique on specific movements, such as the burpee broad jumps, as I continue to train.
Overall, it was an amazing experience and looking forward to training for the next one.
