Triatlon Marina de las Salinas de San Pedro del Pinatar

Hadis took time away from her studies to compete at a local event in Murcia.

Lots of firsts in this one for her including first time wearing a wetsuit in an open water swim, usually in the races in Asia the water temperature doesn’t require a wetsuit.

For various reasons it had been about 17 months since Hadis had last raced a triathlon, so as well as having to deal with borrowed kit there was also trying to remember how to put it all together.

Some technical issues with the bike meant that Hadis’ pre-race prep was compromised, both in respect of physical warm up and mental calmness.

Swimming in a borrowed wetsuit was a challenge as it didn’t fit well and T1 was a bit of a struggle but being a natural racer Hadis made inroads on the bike, dropping some athletes around her and bridging across to a pack that worked well. Out onto the run and Hadis focussed on her posture and cadence, purposely running without any tech so she could race this one on feel.

Key thing was that Hadis had some fun with this and enjoyed her return to racing triathlons rather than duathlons.

Hadis finished 3rd in her AG of 26 athletes and was 10th out off a female field of around 100 athletes.
