Alsdorf Duathlon World Championships

Alsdorf hosted the World Middle Distance Duathlon Championship, consisting of a 10km run/60km bike/10km run.

Kirsty didn’t have a relaxed build up into this race as her accommodation canceled  on her at the last minute and real life kicked in just before she was due to travel. That said the training side of things had gone to plan, so some positive processes achieved.

The weather was looking pretty good as well and the cycle route surface was met with a smile.

A controlled first run saw Kirsty enter T1 in 4th place with no-one around her, so the chase was now on as a 60km TT. The temperature was starting to pick up now and having its effect on the athletes as Kirsty came into T2. The second fastest 10km saw Kirsty work herself up from tenth place into 5th in her AG and was the first British athlete home.

Kirsty felt that the race had gone to plan and that she felt in control throughout the race. Good start to the season
