This had been one of the races that Hadis had been looking to target but given the usual travel & logistical challenges it was only the week before the race that she had confirmation that the Iranian Team had been granted visas and that flights had been booked.

This last minute change of plans is something that Hadis is used to managing and although it can be frustrating, she shows great resilience & motivation in dealing with the stuff that is outside of her control.

IRI took a strong team of 4 male & 3 female athletes to the championships. The course was a novel 5km/30km/5km duathlon with two loops on the run course & 6 loops on the bike.

On the first run Ziqing LU (CHI) & Merry Joy TRUPA (PHI) broke away and came into T1 ahead of two others athletes that were running together. Hadis came into T1 in 5th place, running on her own.

Over the course of the 6 laps, only Lu & Trupa managed to form a pack and work together, for the rest of the field it became more of an individual time trial. By T2 Hadis had risen up into 4th place.

Back out onto the run and Hadis maintained her place to finish in 4th, the first IRI athlete home. LU won the race, leading from start to finish.
