Think it is easy to say that Dan has had a strong second part of the season.
At the start of the year we changed a couple of things around technique and it took a little time for those changes to become more natural but Dan’s application & persistence certainly paid off.
At the start of August Dan won his AG at Dorney Triathlon which qualified him for World Championships at Hamburg, Sept 2027. A solid swim & bike set the race up nicely and there were some great metrics on the run for us to take forward.
September was always going to be a busy month with some key events scheduled.
First up was Bala where during the swim, Dan took a whole load of water on board and had to stop to manage the situation, even with that extra time he raced himself back up into 3rd place which meant that Dan qualified for the European Triathlon Championships at Kitzbuhel in June 2027. There wasn’t any real pressure on qualification at this event as Dan’s race result from Tarragona earlier in the season had already seen him Pre-Qualify for Kitzbuhel.
Next it was off to Pontevedra for the World Championships with a couple of days between the Sprint & The Standard Distance events. Dan had doubled up earlier this season at Tarragona, with only a day between races but we were deep into the season now and with it being the World Championships you would anticipate a deeper quality of field.
In the Sprint Triathlon Dan came home in 16th place overall in his AG, placing as 4th Brit finishing in the top 14% of race finishers. Similarly he finished in the top 14% of race finishers in the Standard distance race two days later, finishing 15th overall in his AG and 3rd GB finisher.
Dan is enjoying his down time and will update what his plans are for his Winter training and next season plans after a period of reflection. Could be busy as Dan has qualified for Kitzbuhel Standard distance based on his results from Tarragona & Bala, as well as both the Sprint & Standard triathlon in Hamburg in 2027.
