Romsey 5

A Day Running in Romsey

Graham had a pleasant day with the
runners.

Woke up this morning pleased to find that the rain had cleared,
as forecast, but that the wind was still very strong.

Today’s course was
on the private land of the Broadlands Estate. The course consisted of three
laps, but on the third lap there is a dog-leg of about a mile out & then
back to the main course. Having done a warm up of a complete lap of the course,
I found that in the open part of the course it was a bit windier than I had
expected.

The first lap was OK and I was nicely tucked into a good group
but as soon as the second lap started, everyone sort of disappeared & I
found myself isolated.
So lap two was a little bit lonely but halfway
through where we turn off of the loop, I managed to catch a couple guys who I
was aiming for and had a good battle with both of them between mile 3 and 4.

Back onto the loop one of the guys got away from me but then towards the end
the other guy overtook me & I got chicked in the sprint finish as
well.

Overall, not that pleased with the time but as commented in my last
report, I was pleased with the way the race evolved.

My splits are as
follows:

(1) 6:14
(2) 6:37
(3) 6:40
(4) 6:27
(5)
6:15

Time: 32:12

40th overall out of 324 & 6th in my age
group
