| The Basics | |
| Born |
May 22nd 1971, Southmead Hospital, Bristol. 2 weeks early and nearly in the lift on the way up to the maternity ward |
| First Race |
Applemore 1999 – I didn’t have a clue! I did it to prove to myself that I could do it. |
|
Best Race Excuse |
Those people who say they’ve done no training but do 4 club swims a week, a couple of track sessions, and a few long rides thrown in for good measure – then win the race. |
| At School I Was |
The quiet shy one. I hated school as I got bullied for wearing glasses. |
|
Fav Training Ride |
Ideally, a nice long ride in the French Alps; realistically, a turbo power session given to me by Richard Iles (he of the hilly New Forest races) with some good Ministry of Sound dance music pumping out |
|
Cook Special Meal |
I don’t cook for others – far too stressful and risky – and my husband is an excellent chef. |

Blackberry & apple crumble with vanilla icecream or peanut butter & banana sarnies or pasta with feta cheese, sundried tomatoes & pesto |

Favourite TV Programme |
Monkey Business; Never mind the Buzzcocks; and the obvious sport |

Tricky – any James Bond films with Pierce Brosnan or Bridget Jones due to Colin Firth |

Kind of Books Read |
Don’t often get chance to read a good book – has sadly tended to have been work related over the last few years – probably sports biogs when get chance |

Whatever is lying around at work – usually a quick flick through the Mail at lunchtime |
|
Ideal Holiday Destination |
Too many nice places to choose from. I’d like to live in Italy. |

How Do You Relax |
Various – visiting Monkey World (I have an adopted chimpanzee); a hot soak in the bath; gardening; playing the piano; going for a long walk by the sea; reading a book (not work related!) |

| Characteristics | |
| Your most unpleasant characteristic |
I worry too much, don’t have enough self confidence and I’ve been told I can be stubborn (I call it determined) |
|
Characteristics most disliked in others |
Disloyalty and those who judge others purely on appearance; lateness |
| What really winds me up |
Idiotic motorists in general along with those who drive in the middle lane when not overtaking; people who bimble around when I’m in a hurry especially in shops |

Last time cried |
I’ve done too much recently as my little cat died |
| Fantasy Date |
Pierce Brosnan or Colin Firth |
| Four words to describe yourself |
Hard-working, caring, “athlete” |
