Broadstone 1/4 Marathon

Graham likes this local race and once again went out for a blast.

First of all I would like to wish all readers a Happy New Year & hope your races go as well as you would like them to.

This was going to be my first running race since April 2012 so I was looking forward to mix it up with the runners of Dorset & surrounding areas. The start time was 11am. It was not a bad morning, cloudy & mild. The course if a two lap affair with a lumpy first mile to get to the start of the first lap. After that it was either up hill or down hill, depending on which way you look at it.

The first lap was reasonably good & I managed to keep a good pace. Onto the second lap, but I may have pushed a little bit too hard before the start of the hill because on said hill I started to lose a couple of places (I was bit annoyed with myself) but then couldn’t manage to get them back on the downhill stretch to the finish.

Crossing the finish line disappointed with the time but relatively pleased with the way I ran the race & how it felt.

Total time: 43:17

1st lap – 17:48
2nd lap – 18:05

Position – 48th out of 264.

PS: I did get chicked by two female athletes!!!
